I started university after a career in the culinary industry. I had the opportunity to work across Canada and overseas and experienced many different people and working environments. When deciding to go to university, I was drawn to marketing and communications because of the impact it has on so many different fields. I love learning languages and can say “Thank you” in 13 different languages.

I learned that the ocean sector has space for all kinds of careers beyond those with technical skills, though some knowledge of the ocean and its industries can help. I think a lot of what I learned is that when you find an industry that interests you or that you’re passionate about, you’ll learn. If it’s power skills or technical skills, there is space to learn and rise in any industry.”
