I'm a Computer Science graduate student hailing from Gujarat, India, passionate about delving into the realms of Data Science and Machine Learning. When I'm not buried in code or datasets, you'll likely find me engrossed in a game of chess, engaging in a spirited match of badminton, or reading a captivating book. During my bachelor’s degree, I did a project using YoLov5 for social distancing violation detection with video data using security cameras. This sparked my interest in working with machine learning. I then worked as a Big Data Engineer with Accenture, where I worked on data sourcing and file ingestion using AWS technologies. When I came to Dalhousie, I took courses that honed the necessary skills to train and tune machine learning models.

“There are a lot of unexplored fields in the ocean sector for machine learning. The main reason is that the ocean is too large and collecting valuable data for training these models is difficult. Before working with this data, I did not comprehend the amount of pre-processing and tuning that is required to train models with ocean images. Looking at the data very carefully, even if that takes up most of the time, is important before training any models is what is learnt from this project. “
