Carson Straub
I’m originally from Boston, Massachusetts. My love of the ocean brought me to Halifax where I pursued my studies in Oceanography at Dalhousie University.I received hands-on learning opportunities both in the lab and on the water at Dalhousie University. I completed the field course Introduction to Field Oceanography during the summer of 2021, which was a highlight of my undergraduate studies. When I’m not at school or working you can find me climbing, camping or surfing year round!

” This work has broadened my perspective for what is possible within the ocean sector. As a rapidly expanding field, I’ve had the chance to meet so many unique individuals all with different backgrounds and roles both at OceanSync and other organizations at the PIER. At OceanSync, I’ve been exposed to a wide range of topics ranging from science of our atmosphere/oceans to maritime policies and GHG initiatives. I believe that there are opportunities for those whose studies cover different fields, especially including those who have not envisioned a career in ocean science. “
