I’m from India and am currently pursuing my Masters at Dalhousie University. I have my Bachelors in Computer Science and worked in the telecom domain for around 6 years. My project with DeepSense was developing a prediction model for a buoy that was scheduled to undergo maintenance. I used data from nearby buoys to do this, with the goal of supporting operational efficiency, safety, and situational awareness for marine transportation. In my spare time I enjoy playing tennis, gardening and learning new things in science and technology

This project made me realize the broad scope of applying data science and technology in the ocean sector. Working on time series data is always challenging and I have learned many techniques to process and predict time series data. I was able to understand how the buoys work and collected useful information. This knowledge helped in selecting the necessary variables/features required to predict the wave measurements. I also understood how useful these buoy measurements are to the pilots in making timely and decisive judgments.”
